SR 0136-G10 over CSX Railroad and Little Chartiers Creek is a 2-span 206’ long steel stringer Prefabricated Bridge Unit bridge on precast integral abutments and a precast pier. The bridge was constructed under a detour in 24 days using A+Bx bidding. This is the first multi-span, nearly all pre-cast, ABC replacement project in PA. The two-span, jointless bridge was designed and erected utilizing full continuity rather than the span by span and link-slab approach. The location of the PVI was relocated over the railroad and raised slightly to meet the required 23’ vertical clearance. Changes in grade were minimized due to the proximity of the SR 0519 intersection as well as to minimize Right-of-Way impacts.

“[The CDR Maguire] team performed exceptionally well on this project. Even after the project was converted from a Design-Build to a Design/Bid/Build to an innovative Accelerated Bridge Construction project, they continued to meet submission deadlines and maintain the overall project schedule. Their design for a multi-span ABC structure allowed the contractor to complete the project on time without any major issues. [CDR Maguire] were a real pleasure to work with.” -Brian Svesnik
