If you’ve heard this rumor over social media, we’re here to help you get your facts straight.  Although they are a federal agency, FEMA does not have military assets to deploy. The decision to deploy the National Guard, should the need arise, is an authority given to each State’s Governor— and an important decision that lay in the hands of a single individual.

Working closely with FEMA over the course of many years, and on behalf of our clients, to create reimbursement packages due to Emergency Declarations, we have been afforded the familiarity of their practices and procedures.  FEMA’s purpose is to manage the process for financial and physical assistance, from the Federal Government to local governments, for losses due to a disaster.

CDR Maguire is a full-service Emergency Management consulting firm and has the expertise to guide our clients (local governments) through the process, to get reimbursed through the FEMA Public Assistance Program. Local governments don’t always know how to appropriately document their actions and submit them to FEMA, in order to receive maximum reimbursement for disasters, such as the COVID-19 Pandemic. Oftentimes, our client does not even have the manpower to do it, and that is where we step in. CDR Maguire can augment staff and serve as a consultant, and we have been doing so for many years.

COVID-19 Pandemic

CDR Maguire has been deployed to the State of Kentucky Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), to assist them in their efforts to combat the COVID-19 Outbreak.

Currently integrated into the Operations and Planning Sections of the Kentucky SEOC, CDR Maguire has been tasked to create deliberate plans for the following priority areas:

  1. Virtual SEOC
  2. Drive-through Testing Centers
  3. Alternate Quarantine Self-isolation
  4. Law Enforcement Hospitals

Our team is working hard to ensure that these items are administered quickly and efficiently, so that the State of Kentucky can get reimbursed by FEMA for expenses due to the COVID-19 Outbreak. Our Kentucky Emergency Management Team takes great pride in the work they’re doing— knowing that it will help to facilitate economic stability in Kentucky, and for the future. Our experts are equipped with knowledge from past disaster situations and are working tirelessly for the State of Kentucky – focused on improving the outcomes of this situation.

We are all in this together and CDR Maguire is doing its part to combat COVID-19. As is the case in difficult situations, this is a time for coming together, a time to support others in any way you can and a time to grow. We know Americans will not give in easily during this fight. We, as a country, will come out of this stronger and more resilient, as we have with other National Disasters. There is hope in this time of uncertainty and we are honored to be a part of helping our Nation respond and recover.
