Garcon Point Bridge

The Garcon Point Bridge is a 2-lane toll bridge in Santa Rosa County, in the Florida panhandle. The bridge generally runs north-south and connects U.S. Route 98 east of Gulf Breeze, Florida to Interstate 10 and U.S. Route 90 west of Milton, Florida. Tolls for the bridge are collected at a five-lane plaza just north of Garcon Point. The toll collection point includes two SunPass lanes that allow account holders to proceed through the plaza at 25 miles per hour.

Winner of the 2000 Engineering Excellence Grand Award from the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers, this $100 Million, 3.5-mile-long precast concrete segmental Garcon Point Bridge was built in 29 months and completed one month ahead of schedule. The 225’ main span provides 65’ of vertical clearance over the navigable waterway.

• The northernmost extent of the Bridge curves southwesterly from just east of Hernandez Point.
• The waters reach a depth of 24 feet at the navigation hump of the 40-foot wide bridge.
• In May 1998, seven 140’ spans (980’) were erected in seven consecutive days, which set a world record for precast segmental span-by-span construction.
• The superstructure is supported by cast-in-place piers for the low-level section and precast, post-tensioned box piers for the high-level section.
