PA 356 Corridor Safety Improvement Project

CDR Maguire Engineering was retained by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to provide engineering services for this corridor safety improvement project with primary deficiencies of intersection sight distances within the project limits.

The project limits consist of a 3.5-mile section along SR 0356, classified as a Rural Community Arterial. The project includes horizontal and vertical geometric improvements, the addition of auxiliary lanes, traffic signal evaluation, and shoulder upgrades throughout the corridor. Evaluation of right-of-way and utility impacts are also included.

The proposed roadway design will meet the required design criteria for the appropriate highway classification based on full design roadway criteria for intersection improvements and 3R roadway design criteria for connecting roadway segments within the corridor. CDR|M’s design also incorporates several, low-cost safety improvements.
