Union Station Parking Garage (Worcester, MA)
in Architecture
Comments
CDR Maguire provided architectural and engineering services for the design of a 500-vehicle parking garage for the City of Worcester.
The project includes ~5,000 square feet of retail space along Franklin Street. The development of this major transportation center at Washington Square encourages pedestrian interchange and serves to enliven the streetscape south of Union Station.
The parking garage has a direct connection to Union Station through a tunnel under the railroad tracks, which needed to be rehabilitated. It was an important consideration in the preparation of a feasibility study associated with the Blackstone Valley National Heritage Corridor.
